Andrew Wolf was the start of the Wolf family lineage in the North America. He left the country of Germany at age 21, in the middle of the 18th century, and landed in Philadelphia on October 27th, 1764. He sailed over on the ship Hero, ran by Captain Ralph Forster and paid approximately 15 pounds for his journey. He was listed as the eighth passenger on this trip and signed his name "Andrew Wolff."1 The name has been spelled in various ways in records, including Wolff, Wolfe, and Woolf. However, over time the spelling "Wolf" became the normal. When Andrew landed in North America, the United States had not become independent from Britain yet.

Andrew met Eve Krebs and married her on August 8th, 1769 at St. Michaels and Zion church in Philadelphia. They had 8 children together, among them being Jacob Wolf. Andrew fought in the revolutionary war from 1780 to 1781 as a private in the 5th company, Captain Samuel Rogers, CO, 1st battalion, Cumberland County Militia.2 Eve died in 1785 and shortly after Andrew married a woman named Catherine. Catherine had a daughter already and they had 4 more children. Andrew served as part of the Pennsylvania militia starting in 1791.3 He then died in 1807 and left his things to his children and his wife Catherine. Catherine was listed as a tavern keeper, as Andrew's place was also known as a stopping point.
